Post Hurricane Harvey: Response and Collaboration

In the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, the Kinder Foundation contributed nearly $3 million to disaster relief efforts including United Way of Greater Houston Relief Fund, the Greater Houston Community Foundation, and also to employee relief funds to help those in our community most impacted by the hurricane’s devastating effects.

As the city turned to recovery and to planning for rebuilding a more resilient Houston, the Foundation joined with the Houston Endowment and Cynthia & George Mitchell Foundation to form the Greater Houston Flood Mitigation Consortium. The consortium brings together our city’s leading researchers to translate data into actionable information to guide decision-makers during the region’s redevelopment. Information and studies are available on houstonconsortium.com for free and to anyone interested in or actively working toward building a more resilient and equity city, county, and country.
