In 2016, the Kinder Foundation made a catalyst commitment to the William A. Lawson Institute for Peace & Prosperity: a $1 million matching gift for the new Lawson Academy. The Texas charter school provides academic and social development to young people and helps them become strong adults. The Lawson Academy uses a creative academic curriculum to build student success and develop the whole person.

The Kinder Foundation’s generous gift is the largest single donation to the $4.5 million capital campaign for the construction of The Lawson Academy, which opened its doors in 2017.
