Cristo Rey Jesuit College Preparatory School

Cristo Rey Jesuit is a Catholic high school that combines personal responsibility, academic rigor, and a corporate work-study program to empower students of all faiths and from economically challenged families to reach their full potential. It is the only non-public high school in the state of Texas to exclusively serve children living in poverty.

Under the leadership of Father TJ Martinez, SJ, Cristo Rey opened its doors in August 2009. The Kinder Foundation made a $1 million pledge in December 2009 to Cristo Rey Jesuit, serving as the lead gift in the school’s campaign to raise $25 million. In December 2016, the Kinder Foundation gifted $500,000 toward the school’s newly-established endowment to help Cristo Rey Jesuit begin to fund, in perpetuity, 30% of the student scholarships given annually.

In 2016, Cristo Rey celebrated a milestone: its fourth graduating class with 99 students, 100% college acceptance, and $9.5 million earned in college scholarships.
